Which one best describes you? Or are you kind of like me–a little of both??
QUIET LUXURY:
If you are a fan of the show, Succession–then you have an idea of what quiet luxury is all about. Cashmere, a monochrome wardrobe and not a luxury brand logo to be found anywhere—-but the luxury is there none the less. It is subtle and quiet–but to the knowing eye, it is very much seen and present. A simple black turtleneck, black trousers, classic black handbag with black heeled shoes–may seem basic or boring. However– in the right setting, this outfit’s quiet simplicity can turn heads and exude a powerful aura of confidence.

To create a quiet luxury wardrobe, you don’t need a whole lot of money–just simple, and basic pieces in neutral tones:
*Turtleneck sweaters + v-neck sweaters made with good quality blended materials.
*Basic straight leg + wide leg trousers.
*Black + neutral-colored heels and flats.
*Delicate jewelry pieces with mixed metals.
*Simple, yet classic style handbags in earth tone colors. (Think of the Hermes Birkin bags–a girl can dream, can’t she?? 😉 )
Gray on gray. Cream on cream. Black on black. Navy on navy. You see the picture I am creating for you? Simple, yet elegant. Confidence without breaking the bank or your budget.

LOUD LUXURY
Now, this is the kind of luxury that gets interesting and fun.
Loud luxury doesn’t mean obnoxious or over the top–it means you like to dress with colors, patterns and love to display luxury brands within your wardrobe. You have a favorite Prada bag, and you love to use it! Blake Lively is a fantastic example of loud luxury with her style and outfits. Like—swoon. I love her. She carries this look effortlessly.

One might think creating a loud luxury wardrobe would be ridiculously expensive–but I would disagree. It has taken me years to build up my closet with brands I never thought I would have access to. I started small, invested in pieces that would stand the test of time and chose items I could afford on a budget. Burberry was my first splurge. Then Gucci. Then Prada. Then Louis Vuitton. I began this luxury brand journey through the site The Real Real. All second hand, (you will find some things new with tags) but in great condition.
I love to mix sequins with basic pieces to elevate an outfit. I love to add lots of jewelry and of course, sometimes–I finish the look with a luxury item handbag. A bold outfit comes with a bold/fun personality, and I am here for it!

To create a loud luxury wardrobe, you can use these items:
*Bold + bright colors and patterns.
*Brand logos anywhere and everywhere.
*Sequins, faux leather, and faux fur.
*Shoes of ALL kinds and colors.
*Statement jewelry pieces.
Handbags can solidify your look and brands do stand out. People notice if you are carrying a luxury brand. Lots of ooohhhs and awwwwws and OH MY WORD I LOVE IT.

Your wardrobe is about YOU. No one else. Buy what you can afford and buy what you LOVE.
I love both quiet luxury and loud luxury and for some events, the theme is more quiet–others, I can dress more loudly. I can do both, and I wear both styles well. So can you!
XOXO, Valerie
